The Fire and Ice Ultra 2017 · 28 August 2017

Every day police officers are suffering injuries and illnesses that have an impact on their work to protect local communities. The Police Treatment Centres is a registered charity which provides vital treatment and support to help these officers return to better health and get back to work sooner.

Story

I am competing in my toughest running challenge yet. This will push me to my physical and mental limit. I am running in a 5 day self supported race in Iceland this August and am raising funds for Police treatment centres that assist in the rehabilitation of physically and mentally injured officers across the U.K.

So for 5 days I will be at the mercy of the elements with my 13 kg running pack. Water and tents are the only assistance provided by the race organisers.

I have seen first hand the effects of the physical and mental pressures police officers face on a daily basis. My wife is a serving police officer suffering from PTSD. Last year saw the introduction of the Psychological Wellness programme offered to police officers at the treatment centres.

I have done many single and two day events before but never anything of this magnitude.

I hope this page reaches as many people as possible, so if you are reading this please share it with your contacts on any network you can.

After all....who is it we call in times of need???

I'll give you a clue ....it's not ghostbusters 😁
