Bupa Great Manchester Run 2011 · 15 May 2011 ·
On Sunday 15th May, a crew of us from the First Actuarial Manchester office will be doing the BUPA Great Manchester Run for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan offers health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer, something which will directly affect 1 in 3 of us. It is truly a worthy cause so please donate generously.

Our new contender Rob Hammond is looking to dethrone Gary Potts from the FA top spot. There’s £10 for charity if Rob beats 40 minutes and there’s £10 for Gary if Gary beats 45 minutes. Let’s hope Gary doesn't slip on any banana skins… And could Rob give Dave Williams a run for his money?
Andy Thompson will be looking to make up a better time this year than the 59 mins 23 secs he came up with last year – we’re all rooting for him. UPDATE - Andy T has unfortunately had to pull out of the race due to scheduling conflicts. New contender Sarah Scott has bravely stepped up to the oche to replace him.
If newly qualified Phil Farrell beats 47 minutes, Andy Screen will donate £50 plus £1 for every second he powers under the 47 minute mark. If he can resist all the chocolate biscuits Andy keeps wafting under his nose he might have a chance!
The Fairclough Feud is stepping up a gear this year, Stephen has set his sights on beating his significant other Emma, although I’m sure she has other ideas..!
Hilary Salt will be keen to keep her title of the fastest Hilary Salt in Manchester.
Qamar Shazad is well on track to accomplish his goal of actually starting!
Also remember that it’s Catherine’s birthday so the FA finish line is a little bit further than the official finish line: the entrance to the nearest pub.
Other new contenders are myself, Natalie Ogden and Greg Sutton - I'll just be happy to make it over the finish line - I'm trusting them to save me a seat.
