Defying Dementia is a community-supported campaign aiming make a real difference to people's lives by tackling the big threat that is presented by Alzheimer's disease. Every penny you donate will provide direct support to our research team and will help to make a real difference.

Story

Hi - I am Fi and I am part of the team at the Spectrum Centre for mental health research at Lancaster Univeristy (www.spectrumcentre.org). I am trying to raise money to fund some of the exciting work we are doing to increase service user involvment in research.

Our main aim in Spectrum is to develop and test psychological treatments (talking therapies) for people with mental health problems and relatives, and to get these as widely available as possible. A key part of this is to work closely with service users to make sure our treatments are well designed and our work remains relevant to them. I am running Hadrian's Wall to raise money so we can invite service users to a free conference at Lancaster University to share ideas and plan new projects.

The University have kindly agreed to match fund whatever we raise, so all donations, no matter how small, will make a really big difference and help us to make this happen. Thanks for reading this and please make a donation if you can.

(Just to be clear - I am not running it in one day- I am guessing 3, but I'll keep you posted on how the training is going!)

Many thanks - must run (literally!)
