Many thanks

James and James

This is an attempt to cycle the distance of Great Britain, starting at the famous Lands End and winding our way up to the infamous John O’Groats, the distance of approximately 1000 miles, oh and its in 13 days. This is a iconic cycle that has been completed by many a rider, therefore we have decided to take it a step further. We have taken it upon ourselves to complete this challenge on our fixed gear cycles, for those unaware, a fixed gear bike means you can't change gear or freewheel; you have to pedal literally every inch of the way - even downhill! And going uphill? That's even tougher than usual as you can't change gear - there isn't one to change to, brilliant.

We are obviously doing this for charity and have chosen a local, Rowans Hospice (http://www.rowanshospice.co.uk/), a Portsmouth based cancer support charity that assists life limiting illnesses, alongside this we have also chosen The Fire Fighters Charity (http://www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/), they are the UK's leading provider of rehabilitation and support services for the fire and rescue community, we believe these charities are deserved of this mammoth unselfish task we are performing. To achieve this we have had great support and assistance from The Car Finance Company, our employers not only offered ideas but also helped make this possible and sponsored our equipment and clothing for this questionable task.

The reason we have taken this madness upon is for nothing but the will to complete something that hasn’t been achieved as yet, the event itself is popular yet the idea of doing this enduring journey in constant movement is quite unheard of, after browsing the web for a while we found out that a distance this great and, well, hilly is unheard of, if you don’t believe us you can have a look for yourself. It doesn’t look fun. At all. Not one bit. No.

Thanks in advance for donating vast sums of pocket change and disposable income to these two worthy causes, not us, Rowans Hospice and The Fire Fighters Charity, that are both run solely on charitable donations, we hope the enormity and ridiculous nature of this task can potentially raise great awareness and, lets be honest, money.
