Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I am hoping that this will give some inspiration to others who find themselves suddenly scared stupid about what will happen next when 'it' suddenly hits _you_ !

In March 2020 I was diagnosed with Serious Prostate Cancer G9 T2+ requiring immediate surgery, which was super-scary, as all surgery was then cancelled, and I had to wait 7 months to have Radiotherapy... but that gave me my First Challenge ! My 'local' hospital was over an hour away across the Welsh Hills... so I resolved to travel to every appointment on my motorcycle - every weekday for all of October and November. My Oncologist thought it was not possible, my friends thought it was stupid - my bike was a 250kg BMW R1250GS... so the first game was on, and won.

It took until Easter 2021 for me to recover enough fitness to run properly in the hills, (and when I say hills, I mean Welsh Hills, where flat just doesnt exist) and I entered a couple of hill races and the game was on again, even though my running was not going to win me any medals... but then in June 2021 I broke my foot _really_ badly on my motorcycle... and game over... for then ! The good news in November 2021 at age 66, was that a full-body scan showed no signs of 'activity'. Huzzah ! Game on again !!!

I continue to Challenge myself, and I have entered a number of events that really push my fitness and skill boundaries. My story is here: https://flaris55.blogspot.com/

If you, or someone you know, is in this kind of situation, then feel free to contact me, but more than anything, please support the research into scary diseases and their treatment...
