450ft Abseil down Guys Tower in London, for Child's i Foundation · 15 August 2009

We believe in families, not orphanages. We’re helping Uganda reimagine care so that no child anywhere need ever experience an orphanage again. We help repurpose orphanages into services that people really need, keeping families together, reuniting families or finding new ‘forever families’.

Story

15th August 2009

Did it!!!  WOOHOO!!!!  What an experience!!  Brilliant!  Thank you everyone!!!  (For proof take a look through the photos!)

Thanks VERY much to you too on behalf of Child's i Foundation, who will be able to use the money from my abseil alone, to fund a large proportion of a month's rent on a property in Uganda.  This will to be used as a transitional home for abandoned babies and babies of struggling, disadvantaged mothers and will house resources and help to resettle those babies, preferably with their own families, or if necessary, with new families within Uganda.

If you're reading this post-abseil and would still like to donate, here's the pre-abseil preamble!...

So, yes...HAVE thought about it...mother of two...slightly mad, but have done it once before, albeit only 10 storeys instead of  30 odd?!

I've been receiving info from the Child's i Foundation & their work (see their link) via Facebook for a while now, since a colleague of mine went out to work in a Ugandan orphanage for a few weeks, (spurred on by Child's i founder, who's also a veteran volunteer there).

I received the one about the abseil Thursday (6th August 2009) last week and once my place was confirmed on Sunday (9th August 2009), set up this page and.....Woohoo!!!!

I shall be throwing caution to the wind and taking a leap of faith in the organisers, (appropriately named "Over The Edge"!) ...am reasonably confident!!  Matt's still not sure he wants to watch though!  Did you know it's apparently the 11th tallest building in London?!!!!!!

Any donations gratefully received...I know it's always one thing after another these days!

Big hug and thank you SO much for anything you can spare!

Love Flo x
