Until you do something to kick start a change, it will never happen. That's why we have decided to do our little bit to help fund at least 10 days of research to find a cure for Becker muscular dystrophy so that boys, like Louis, have a fighting chance to overcome this horrible and cruel condition. 

Louis is one of around 2,400 boys that were unlucky in life's genetic raffle. Louis was born with a tiny error in his DNA which has had an impact on how his muscles build and repair themselves. Instead of getting stronger, his muscles will weaken as he grows and he will slowly begin to lose the ability to do most things that we take for granted. Jumping, walking, climbing stairs and  running with friends at school will all become too challenging. Even everyday actions like brushing his teeth or eating with a knife and fork, the very basic of independent behaviours will require the support of those that love him. 

We can't stand for that. We couldn't begin to imagine what life would be like. But we do know that scientists and researchers have been making incredible progress in recent years and there is a real hope that Louis is part of a generation where effective treatments and potentially even a cure can be found. We want to help speed that up. 

We've decided to do something completely out of our comfort zone and, to be honest, something we're quite scared about to help raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK's work supporting Becker research. 

We're hoping, with the help of your donations, to fund at least 10 days of pioneering research into potential treatments that are making exciting progress - treatments like utrophin upregulation where scientists believe they can find a way to replace the missing protein genes in Louis' DNA to help him grow stronger.
