Story

On June 25th two friends and I had the mad idea to cycle the 490miles between Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, climbing each one as we go, aiming to do it in under 72 hours. We did it to our surprise in 67.5hours, breaking a Guinness World record by 20hours. We had never attempted anything like this before; we kept being behind time and had torrential rain and headwind on one day. It was incredibly intense and stressful on the lead up, having practical full - time jobs. They then set me the challenge of breaking the solo female womans record of 54hours 22minutes (because I looked incredibly energetic in challenge #1) which I am attempting on 10th - 12th September (weather permitting).

I seem very comfortable spending long amounts of time alone or with animals but I certainly haven't attempted anything like this before; the first day in itself, I will be jogging up and down Snowdon at 4a.m then pedalling 194miles to Scafell Pike. I am pretty terrified but feel reassured having done the group challenge and having such a fantastic support team helping me with food, cheer and mapping. Through the group and solo challenge we/I have been putting in as much training as possible around busy working lives so all I can do now is give it my absolute best shot; I am determined to do it! A huge motivation for doing this is 1) your belief and support 2) to continue to raise money for The Trussel Trust, a vitally important food bank charity.

My own personal motivation aside from my friends spirit of adventure and determination, is the sheer joy of being able to attempt these challenges and feel so fit and capable after a good 10 years of physical and emotional stress and trauma - related chronic fatigue and a completely non - functional gut. I could not work or even imagine these challenges. I certainly don't take energy for granted now. I'd like other people to take hope from this challenge that you can overcome most things if you put your mind to it.

Go on!, Tek a chance on me! I dare ya to sponsor and challenge me to get the time of 54hours, 22mins.

Trussel Trust support a network of 1,200 food bank centres across the UK to provide emergency support to people who need it most. Since covid hit, there has been a 61% rise of food parcels required! Money donated will go towards supporting these food banks and tackling the structural issues that have led to people needing food banks.

You helped raised a phenomenal £7,000 and a bit, last time for Mountain Rescue and Trussel Trust combined. I hope we can all throw in a few quid and together, I'll meet my target!

Thankyou so much for all your kindness, belief, support and motivational messages through my blog, from the NC500 last august, through lambing time this year leading up to the group National 3 Peaks and then here we are! I was so so run down back then training and working but now, here I am ready to smash it! :)
