Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page, we are self funding ourselves during our trip, so all the money raised will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Liz and I are off round the world on Motorcycles and hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Muscular Dystrophy Campagin as possible while we're doing it. To keep Updated on our story please visit our website www.mudandknobblies.co.uk.

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign a charity that both my wife Liz and I are very passionate about. Liz is a genetic carrier of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and has recenlty been diagnosed as a Manifesting Carrier of DMD. As a result we have decided against having any children of our own as not only do we not want to run the risk of bring a child in to the world with this terrible condition but also worry about the stress that prengnacy will place on Liz, we have heard storys of Manifesting Carriers who have never been able to walk again after child birth.

I startted this page in 2011 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campagin, The challenge I completed was to ride my motorcycle into the Sahara Desert in the height of summer. With 3 friends we all made it however 2 of the motorcycles struggled with the heat and eventually had to be recovered home from spain.

In 2013 we undertake our big motorcycle Challenge.

Around the World

Since I returned from Morocco Liz has plunged head first into the world of adventure motorcycling taking her CBT in in August 2011 and Currently working on getting her full motorcycle license so we can atempt the holy grail of riding a motorcycle overland around the world.

We aim to depart in April 2013 riding approximately 18000 miles traveling through: England, France, Germany, Austria, Sloviena, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Ukbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan, Russia, Mongolia,Russia again, Japan and then Canada. After arrival in Canada in Autumn 2013 we intend to stay for six months before heading south through the Americas towards Argentina.

We will be riding two British made CCM motorcycles, The classic trail bike replica SR40. This bike runs the well regarded engine from Suzuki's DRZ 400. It is light weight and low making it a perfect travel bike for Liz.

For Liz being a genetic manifesting carrier of Duchenne Muscuclar Dystrophy she will have to battle against the muscle weakness caused by her condition and tiring days in the saddle to get her to through some of the most challenging terrain in the world.

We hope we can make a real difference to sufferers of the disease by carrying out this challenge.
