Backstory

Few of us will have been spared the horrific images portrayed in the media on a daily basis of the death and destruction in Ukraine.

The misery being caused to innocent people is on a scale not seen in Europe since the 2nd World War.

For my part, it has been extremely hard to process the unimaginable horrors being perpetrated on our European neighbour.

1.7 million children have already been displaced from their homes and country and that number is doubled by the adults who cannot remain and fight for their freedom.

There have been a plethora of remarkable and awe inspiring stories of bravery and courage and yet we can only imagine what they have suffered.

Many of us will have already donated funds or our time to the various charitable organisations supporting this humanitarian crisis, but perhaps as a club we could provide much needed fiscal help.

As I stopped to fuel my own car for a weekend pleasure outing and watched the meter on the pump exceed £100, I felt uneasy that I could have very easily donated that sum to help people who now have less than nothing.

If each member of the Four Marks Supercar Club could donate the equivalent of a tank or more of high octane we could make a fundamental difference to the humanitarian crisis which is so close to home.

When I look at the faces of my family and look around my home and possessions, I realise how blessed I am to wake every morning to peace and freedom.
