Head Shave / Half Marathon Canicross · 23 October 2019

FND Action supports people across the UK living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). We provide information, raise awareness, campaign for better healthcare, and promote education to improve understanding and outcomes for everyone affected.

Story

Yes I'm mad, so why not raise money for being mad!

For those who have known me forever, I have always had long hair, down to my arse. I have no idea what I will look like with no hair. Millions have to find out through no choice of their own and they brave the shave as just PART of a huge process of usually shitty procedures and medication and just not having a clue about whether they will live a normal life again.

I also have started running quite a lot with my dog, so I plan to do a half marathon with Louis (my black labrador cross, if he is up for it, his well being is number one priority and any sniff that he isn't up for it, he won't run it) I will run it regardless. Now this all sounds far too easy, so just to make it that bit more challenging, I am running in full kit (apart from anything that I can use to hurt people with... Force rules I'm afraid!) so with the loss of the weight of some of my PPE I will add the weight with sandbags (or some other means so that it's still the true weight).

So what am I doing with my lushesh long locks? I'm donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust so it can be used as a wig for a child going through cancer. (please note, no money donations will be made to Little Princess Trust, just my hair)

I plan to shave my head at the start of the summer and run the marathon at the end of the summer but I will keep everyone in the loop as soon as I have found a race that is a suitable challenge (gotta be off road and canicross friendly so gonna be hilly!)

Anyone local to me, prepared to get fat. As baking is my only skill, I will be making lots of treats to bump up my fundraising.

So why FND? My amazing twin brother has been diagnosed with FND which has totally turned his life upside down. Someone who was very fit and healthy, at only 28 years young has totally taken over his world. To raise awareness and funds for FND Action for them to continue their hard work will be an honour. Thank you to everyone who supports us :)

Please support me where you can for these amazing causes. I would like the donations to be as even as possible for the 4 charities.
