Story

Philip, Lizzy and Catz are walking 15 miles from Rievaulx to Osmotherley in North Yorkshire, to raise funds for the Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage.

What is the Ampleforth Lourdes Pilgrimage?

We take roughly 70 people  with a variety of illnesses (physical and mental) from Stansted, UK to Lourdes in France. The week-long pilgrimage consists of a mixture of prayer, holiday and social activity, encouraging people as young as 17 to help those needing assistance in their daily activity (dressing, feeding, mobility).

Our mission is to ensure that we continue to enable pilgrims to answer the call of Our Lady to come to Lourdes, particularly Assisted Pilgrims and the Clinical Staff and Young Helpers who support them. We also endeavour to bring the message and gifts we experience in Lourdes back home to those who cannot travel with us through a range of online and offline events during the year. Without generous donations from our friends we would not be able to offer the financial assistance required to enable these groups to join us and cover the many other expenses involved with running a Pilgrimage. We hope that you will support us in remaining an inclusive Pilgrimage that ensures we respond to the need to help those of limited means.
