Story
On 17th August 2012 I attempted to swim with sharks at the Blue Planet Aquarium to raise funds for Friends of Chernobyl's Children (Fylde Coast). I went into the tank and manged to breath under water in preparation to swim with sharks.I had to perform several tasks before I could get close to the sharks. I lost my regulator under water and swallowed several pints of sea water when I tried to get my regulator back. I came back up for some air and was violently sick. I continued to try, but was told by the instructor to throw the regulator out yet again, could not retrieve the damn thing and panicked under water and had to come up for air. I was sick again. .... I felt I could not carry on....and I was still ill during the night and the next day :(
I have now decided to stay above sea level, sworn never to get back into a tank of smelly salt water ever again.......I now intend to get strapped into a sort of hand gliding harness and get hoisted over 100ft into the air above South Shore Pier in Blackpool. It will be up to me to pull the release, if I can muster the nerve, next thing I will be falling, falling, then swing out over the beach at 130km/h.
Who knows, the rope may snap and I could still end up as fish food......
I must be crazy but its all in a good cause, so dig deep and please donate.
FOCC Fylde Coast are a Blackpool based charity who bring children from Belarus who are affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster to the Fylde Coast for 4 weeks each year. The Children gain lots of health benefits and visit Dentists, Opticians, etc during their months stay. All of the host families provide healthy food and fresh air as well as a little fun for the children! All of the activities and travel are paid for by the charity.
