Story

I invite you to please join me in giving the GIFT OF SIGHT to the vulnerable and poor people of Bangladesh.

Save the eyesight of one Bangladeshi for just £60!

Be the one who helps restore the sight of someone and gifting them the ability to read and see the world around them again.

I would like to help gift the sight to 100 poor and needy people in Bangladesh. That would mean with your support and donations we need to raise £6,000 during the remaining of this blessed month. That's 100 kind and generous souls donating £60 each. Or even maybe 200 kind and generous souls donating £30 each.

This Ramadan I have partnered with Human Appeal to raise funds to help provide cataract surgeries to the poor and needy people of Bangladesh.

650,000 people in Bangladesh are living with blindness due to cataracts, a completely treatable condition. For just £60, you can restore the eyesight of a vulnerable person in Bangladesh. It’s a priceless gift, which the person you’re helping wouldn’t be able to afford without your help. When a person is cured of cataracts, especially in communities with limited accessibility for the visually impaired, they not only have their eyesight restored, but they’re able to navigate their environment, earn a living, and care for their families. It provides ongoing benefits for the whole family for years to come.

Please donate any amount that you can-no amount is too small!

SOME FACTS!

Approximately 80 percent of Bangladeshis who live in rural areas are almost completely deprived of eye-care services as they cannot afford the expense of treatment.

The main barriers and causes of blindness include malnutrition, lack of education, inadequate eye care, lack of treatment facilities, lack of cautiousness and poverty.

Blindness is a serious public health problem in Bangladesh. It is estimated that the prevalence of blindness in Bangladesh is 1.53% among the population aged 30 years and older.  Cataract was identified as the major cause of blindness with around 80% cases of blindness being due to cataract.

It is also estimated that approximately 3.3 million of the adult population (30 years and above) in Bangladesh are affected by visual impairment due to refractive error, which can be corrected by wearing glasses.

Cataract removals are simple, yet life changing procedures which restore sight and can remove blindness almost instantly. And yet, tens of thousands of people in Bangladesh are living with blindness simply because they cannot afford the medical expense of treatment.

Please donate any amount that you can-no amount is too small!
