Story

Last year, you may remember, I somehow completed a walking marathon to raise much needed funds for Prostate Cancer research. I was "pushed" into it kicking and screaming by my friend and then customer Tim Hanlon. This year, on the 22nd of September, I have chosen to have another go mainly inspired by many of the people I walked with last year who shared their experience during the walk of how Prostate Cancer had, and was continuing to, directly or indirectly affected their lives.

Throughout this year, via my customer Keyline, a key supporter of the charity, I have been exposed to many more victims of this cancer and learnt more and more about the fantastic positive opportunities that funds raised can deliver. Therefore this year I have teamed up with a couple of fabulous people from Keyline, Georgie Johnson and Oliver Clarke. Both are over half of my age so I will be relying on them to literally carry me over to finish line!

I have to admit its going to be even tougher this year (and last year nearly broke me) as due to the arrival of our new fur ball Shankly the puppy, training has been restricted to shorter "puppy length" walks with lots of "cocking leg" stops (Shankly not me!). It's also going to be tougher for another reason! Last year's tour of Merseyside sporting stadiums had an exciting incentive  end goal finishing at the greatest place on earth, Anfield. This year's walk starts at Altricham FC, before visiting Stockport County, Salford City and then onto Old Trafford (Man United) and finally finishing at the home of Manchester City! I’ve promised my dad I will wipe my feet on the way out of both Manchester Premier League grounds should I reach that far!!! 😂 In all seriousness Manchester is a great City but sadly there are 12,519 men living with prostate cancer in Manchester. I’d like to help them with your support

Please please please can I ask for your support again for this great charity. Last year you supported me to a grand total I couldn't have dreamt of. I know there are so many financial pressures on us all at the moment but sadly Prostate Cancer isn't going away anytime soon without our help. If you could spare some change I, and Prostate Cancer UK, would be eternally grateful.

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. That’s thousands of dads, partners, brothers, sons, grandads, uncles and mates. The money raised here will help fund lifesaving research into earlier prostate cancer diagnosis, better treatment and essential support services. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank-you,

Graham
