Story
Recently lost my Mum, Chris Ives, to cancer on 21 December 2021, after a long fight, which she fought courageously, with dignity, with such a positive attitude, never moaned or complained once, despite being in tremendous pain at times, particularly near the end, always thinking of others instead of herself. It’s because of her - and the fact I know she would want to help others, that I’m undertaking a 29 mile walk from the Hull City FC ground to Blundell Park, the home of my team Grimsby Town, on April 15 when we have a home game against Stockport County FC.
I’ll be joined on the walk by a fellow Grimsby Town fan..Colin Longden..whom also recently lost his Mother on 7 January to Cancer. Colin got in touch with me via the Fishy forum and wanted to participate, we have a mutual love of the Mariners and aim to hopefully join forces and raise money for MacMillan, and thereby do something positive in a time of sadness, whilst also helping raise funds for MacMillan, whom do such a wonderful job in helping people suffering with Cancer, and their families.
We’d also welcome any other Grimsby fans who’d like to join in the walk and fundraising efforts, or maybe want to do just part of the route on the day.
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. At Macmillan, we give people with cancer everything we’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are our worries. We’re doing whatever it takes.
