Our vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all and treats people with experience of mental illness fairly, positively and with respect. People who experience mental illness are at the heart of what we do.

Story

Dear All,

As i'm sure you will all know, one of our very close friends James Stephen Bailey sadly passed away on the 21 January 2016 (aged 22) following a tough battle with mental illness.  He was a happy and outgoing lad who would always have a massive smile on his face and it was always a pleasure to be in his company. James was a very popular boy and losing him so early was a massive tragedy to so many of us.

Bailey always fancied himself as a decent footballer playing the game through his idol Stephen Gerrard. Although the fact he played right back never did the resemblance any favours. He was always involved in Sunday league teams doing the rounds at St. Pauls, Grouville and First Tower and I’m sure anyone who played alongside him always enjoyed his humour and cheekiness. He was also involved in the De La Salle school football team throughout the years, with many fierce games against Victoria College, who of course always got the better of them.

In memory of James, we will be holding a De La Salle vs Victoria College memorial football match at Springfield Stadium on Saturday 23rd April at 10.45 kick-off. We will be raising funds for a local charity called Mind Jersey, a very relevant and important charity which provides support to people living with mental illness.

We are kindly asking as many people possible to come and support this very personal and worthwhile event, so we can remember the good times we shared with James and hopefully raise some very important sponsorship money with a suggested £5 donation per person.

Once again many thanks for taking your time to read the above and should you have any questions or believe you could potentially contribute in any shape or form to make this event truly memorable.

Many thanks

Brett x
