On the 24th April 2019 my mum Susan, collapsed in a shop in Copnor. Paramedics attended but her heart had already stopped. After reviving her and rushing her into the hospital she spent 30 hours in an induced coma in order for the brain to repair itself following the lack of oxygen. The prognosis was not great however defying odds Sue, came out of the coma with no loss of brain function.
Following investigations it was found that Sue suffered from ventricular fibrillation and cardiomyopathy - in everyday speak - heart failure. She was transferred to the cardiology ward where she received amazing treatment from Dr Guha and his team as well as all the staff on C6 ward.
The thing that shocked us while on ward was the lack of fully functioning equipment available to staff to complete the tasks required of them efficiently.
We would therefore like to raise as much funding as possible for this ward in order to ease the burden on staff and support them in their roles.
For the first part of our fundraising Sue's brother Nathan is riding 1300 miles on his motorbike, following this her daughter Kim will be having her haircut to be sent off to be made into a wig.
