Steve Watkin

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In May 2017, Steve was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. It was a major shock to all of us as Steve had never been ill in his life. He had broken the odd bone here and there as a result of falling off his bike/motor bike on various occasions but otherwise he was fit and healthy.
He started chemotherapy treatment with great hopes of it reducing the tumour but the chemotherapy didn't work despite two attempts with various chemotherapy drugs. In the end it was recommended that he have palliative care via St Christopher's Hospice.
St Christopher's Hospice in Orpington were very supportive and did their very best to find the right combination of drugs to help Steve with the pain. Unfortunately, the pain increased and eventually Steve was admitted to St Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham. He was there for nearly 3 weeks and the nurses and doctors could not have been more attentive. They treated Steve with the utmost respect, consideration and health care.
They could not have done more for us as a family, providing everything we needed including a z-bed to sleep overnight. They dealt with Steve's erratic, and often hilarious behaviour due to the strong medication, with good humour and patience.
It is, therefore, our wish that instead of flowers, donations are made to St Christophers's Hospice, via this page, to support the charity in the excellent work they do for cancer patients and their families.
Thank you on behalf of all our family.
