At FORCE Cancer Charity we believe that anyone diagnosed with cancer deserves the best possible treatment and professional support, face to face and close to home. We have a Cancer Support and Information Centre in Exeter for patients and their loved ones.

Story

Six years ago we witnessed the official opening of the FORCE Cancer Support Centre – a memorable occasion when over 300 people who helped create the Centre, gathered to open it.

Since then there have been a total of 78,280 visits to the Centre and our numbers continue to increase (up 17% in the last six months).

The Centre has now reached ‘break point’ and all the indicators suggest that demand for our services is set to further increase.  We have now outgrown our original space and need to address this now before the level of activity compromises the very ambience which people cherish.

Creating extra space is not just a financial challenge; we also have to consider the unique nature of the existing building and the lack of land around the Centre. Therefore the additional accommodation needs to be flexible, providing one large room for support groups and exercise classes but also dividable into two separate ‘quiet rooms’ for one to one support.  Our quiet rooms are not only used by FORCE staff but also by Cancer Nurse Specialists who sometimes seek space to bring patients outside the Hospital environment.

With the backing of the RD&E Foundation Trust and our project approved by the planners, it is vital we address the need to extend as soon as possible.

Your donation will go towards supporting our Appeal to raise £350,000 and help secure our much needed services for years to come.  Thank you.
