Pseudomyxoma Survivor aims to raise awareness of PMP and appendix cancers, to provide emotional and practical support and information to survivors and their families on our website and online community. We are also dedicated to raising funds for research into this extremely rare disease.

Story

It is ten years on 22nd November 2013 since 33 year old Colin Smith lost his life to a rare tumour type, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. A one in a million disease which at the time, couldn't be treated in Scotland. Despite undergoing extensive surgery at the Christie Hospital in Manchester,Colin died less than five months after receiving diagnosis, which he received on his 33rd birthday on July 1st 2003. A son, brother, uncle,nephew, cousin and dear friend, he has never been forgotten.Ten years on, it is time to once again remember Colin, raise awareness of this terrible disease and raise funds for Pseudomyxoma Survivor and the Christie Hospital. Colin's sister Salena will undertaking various challenges, including a 140 foot abseil at Old Trafford Stadium (Christie Hospital event) the Tinsel Trailtroopers 10Krun on November 24th 2013, 5 mile run on 30/11/13, Great Winter run 5K in Edinburgh on 11/01/2014, Culzean 10K , Hopetoun House 10K Race for Life and Great Manchester Run in May 2014, with long -time pal Amanda McEwan. Please play Paul McCartney's 'Blackbird' on 22nd November 2013 and Beatles 'Here comes the Sun' on 1st July 2014 in rememberance of Colin who met his greatest challenge with courage and dignity.  A contientious  and active individual who loved music and film,  it is still difficult for those who knew him to comprehend what happened to Colin. His strength of character shone through  in his last difficult months. Always remembered, always loved, never forgotten. He was my brother, he was my friend. Thank you for your support x x
