Story
Hi,
We are running the 10K Forest of Dean challenge to raise some much needed funds for a small charity bowel Cancer UK.
Our friend Regina O'Reilly, who used to live in Gloucester is running the London marathon in April 22nd and trekking The Great Wall of China in October. Regina frequently pops down to Gloucester for the weekend and somehow she twisted her arms to run 10k...!!
Her dad Frank O'Reilly died of bowel cancer in 2006 after 3 years of chemotherapy. In the past few years Regina has tried to raise awareness of bowel cancer and to promote early detection as well as raising some money along the way!
She believes people are still embarassed to seek medical advice thus delaying early detection. Since her dad died, she had friends who have passed away from bowel cancer but also knows people who have gone to the doctor early and thankfully have beaten this horrible disease.
So we have decided to drag ourselves around the Forest of Dean in the hope of raising a few pound. We did agree to it after a few pints one night!!
If you would like to look at the work Regina is doing, check out her Facebook page called Run Reg Run. She was recently picked to carry the Olympic torch in Nottingham en route to London.
