★★★WE WANT YOU TO JOIN AND DO THE MILES WITH US #forissy ★★★
‘The COVID-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. So the organisers of the London Marathon have designed the 2.6 Challenge to help save the UK’s charities.
The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and easy way for the nation to come together on Sunday 26 April (the original date of the London Marathon before it was postponed) and fundraise for their chosen charity by doing any activity or challenge they wish to do.’ - The CRY website
Issy had been a great part of all of our lives since birth as our mums met shortly before we were born. Knowing each other for our entire lives and growing as close as sisters, we have always described our friendship as always and forever. 5 years ago, we lost Isabelle suddenly due to an undiagnosed heart condition aged 14.
Issy was an active teenager with no history or symptoms of a cardiac condition. A quick, non-invasive electrocardiogram (ECG) can detect heart problems such as these and help to treat them before they become fatal. This loss has driven us to raise awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young and urge anyone who is of the age possible to get screened to prevent this terrible tragedy.
Cardiac Risk in the Young is a charity which works to support those who have experienced a sudden cardiac death, to screen as many people as possible between the ages of 14-35 in order to discover cardiac conditions, to research further into how we can progress our understanding of these cardiac risks and to raise awareness.
According to statistics, every week in the UK, at least 12 supposedly healthy people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. So far, 210,000 young people have been screened for any possible problems with the money raised by people supporting this worthwhile cause.
In commemoration of the 5 year anniversary of when we lost our Isabelle, we are going to support CRY with our own 2.6 challenge.
Our aim is to reach a total of miles with a relay charity walk/run/cycle. The idea is that we can all participate in reaching our goal to support this amazing charity, despite not being able to do it together. As it is the 5 year anniversary, we are suggesting a minimum £5 donation but obviously whatever you are able to donate is greatly appreciated!
★★★Remember to include who you are and how many miles you aim to complete!★★★
Please share this with your friends and family to try to reach our goal together!
Thank you!
Olivia, Victoria, Charlotte, Amy and our Issy🥰
Always and forever x
