For Jimmy

The Chilterns 2 Peaks Challenge · 13 September 2020 ·
Many of you know that in February 2020 we all lost an amazing man, I was lucky enough to have Jimmy as my Step Dad but sadly he lost his fight to cancer due to asbestos called Mesothelioma.
James/Jim/Jimmy/Jimbo/Lofty the gentleman with many names was diagnosed in September of 2019. Within 6 months of being diagnosed he lost his fight and we lost a massive part of our lives. Not just a friend but a Dad a Grandad and a Husband. A extremely emotional time for all of us which was made worse with the start of COVID19 coming in fast meant that we had to reduce the funeral to no more than 20 and cancel the wake. One that we intend to do when the Government will allow us and it will be a celebration of Jimmys life.
Whilst Jimmy was ill and on my many chats and tears and talks and giggle talking about the world past and present we would talk about my stupid 100KM walk which Jimmy was so incredibly proud of me and during my walk would text me supportive messages and on the second day of 100km he would meet me at most stops cheering me on to the finish line. When i found out that Rennie Grove did the 'Chiltern Challenge' I told Jimmy that I wanted to do it. He was so very moved, we both cried (again) and so I keep my promise.
Rennie Grove have been amazing from the word go with helping Jimmy and us prepare for the unknown, with so much help and support. They have been amazing to Jimmy and to the whole family and a great support to my Mum. So to raise money for a Charity especially in these difficult times that has helped Jimmy its just feels right and plus I will keep my promise to Jimmy and to help raise money for other patients and family is wonderful.
And so I keep my promise and with a little help from my friends.....Myself, my daughter Holly and friends Sammy, Mark, Amelia and Johnny will be walking the Chiltern 2 Peak Challenged a 12mile walk on Sunday 13th September come rain or shine xxxxx
