London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers advanced pre-hospital care to critically injured people in London. Your donation will help us save more lives by keeping our helicopter in the air and our rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a team of friends/colleagues from Forsters LLP who will be taking on a 25 km challenge from London to Oaks Park to raise funds for London's Air Ambulance Charity.

The service London's Air Ambulance provide is second to none and the majority of their running costs are funded by donations (they are not an NHS organisation).

Using a helicopter from 08.00 to sunset, and rapid response cars at night/in adverse weather conditions, London's Air Ambulance brings the hospital to the patient when time is critical.  They perform innovative and potentially life saving procedures, usually found in the emergency department, on scene.  The team can perform treatments such as open heart surgery, blood transfusions and general anaesthetic by the roadside.  Providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury gives patients the best chance of survival and the best quality of life after trauma.

This charity is of great personal meaning to our team member Shawn.  In November 2017 Shawn's father in law, Steve, had a life changing accident whilst at work with his son, causing him to fall 6 floors from an Oxford Street building.  The fall caused Steve to break nearly every bone in his body from the shoulder down, with the impact of the fall causing a life threatening rupture to his aorta.  After spending 3 weeks in a coma, 4 months in the major trauma centre and ICU, then a further 9 months in rehabilitation hospital, Steve is now home with his family where he belongs.  Without the help of London's Air Ambulance at the scene, Steve would not be here today.

We would be so grateful for your support in helping us reach our fundraising target for this incredible charity.
