LILA, 5yrs, Brighton xxx

Jem first met and grew very close to Lila in Sept 2018 during our Animal Club at her school saying, "Lila is a beautiful little girl, Infectious and so enjoyable to work with".

On the 7th November 2018, Lila's normal world ended when her and her family were told that lovely Lila, aged 5, had a large and rare tumour in the middle of her brain. Almost 5 cm across at its widest point, the tumour is benign but is attached to various important structures.  Lila will require lifelong hormone replacement therapy and her vision and her memory have also been affected by the tumour.

 Lila has had one operation to reduce the pressure in her brain and to remove some of the tumour.  It is now felt that the risks of further surgery outweigh the benefits and the safest option is for her to receive a course of proton beam radiotherapy.  

Lila returns from the USA in April and all our thoughts from the UK are with her and her family. Mum and dad have had to give up work and dedicate their whole life to Lila and her all important treatment. We can only imagine what impact this terrible illness for Lila has caused both her and her parents and we want to help as much as we can financially, to reduce as much worry and stress as possible. It is important that all their strength and time is spent making Lila comfortable and life as enjoyable as possible under the dreadful circumstances they currently have to deal with.

With your donation we would like to raise a total of £2500 with half going to a small and local charity who care for children just like Lila but also for children with other rare and terrible illnesses, some terminal. With the other half we will be supporting Lila's family with any equipment that could be needed to nurse Lila back to health or perhaps to fund a well deserved break away!

For £20 per adult and £10 per child, you can take part in our walk from Brighton Pier to Bognor Pier on Sunday Oct 6th. The walk is almost entirely on the coast with seaviews and is approx a 28.6 mile journey. Me and Sophia, my daughter who was only 8yrs old, completed this last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You will receive a T-Shirt to complete the challenge in and a medal on completion. All money raised here will go towards the Tees, medals and refreshments with the balance going to this chosen charity and to Lila.
