Forward Waste Management supporting Tenovus' Closer to Home Appeal · 24 August 2017
For the next 12 months, the Forward Waste Management team will be taking part in various activities to raise funds for the Tenovus Closer to Home appeal.
What is the Closer to Home appeal?
Cancer patients living in some areas of Wales often have to travel up to 150 miles for their treatment. That's expensive and stressful, so instead of travelling long distances for their chemotherapy, Tenovus take it to them.
Tenovus' mobile support units go to different communities, every day, setting up in local car parks, supermarkets and community venues. Patients can park right outside for free and because it's not as busy as a hospital, there are fewer delays.
Tenovus currently run two units, but demand is growing and they urgently need to build a third. The Closer to Home appeal is aiming to raise £1m in order to build, equip and launch a new state of the art mobile support unit.
At Forward Waste, we are going to spend the next 12 months raising as much as possible for this extremely worthwhile cause, starting with a sponsored 7 mile walk in September. We will be updating this page regularly with news of what we are up to.
