We raise funds to maintain St Laurences Church, Chorley

Story

In 2022 the Friends of St Laurence’s (FOSL) financed essential repairs to the roof of the organ chamber preventing leakages which threatened to cause terminal damage to the organ. This cost 30,000. This enables us to move on to Phase 2 or our Organ project – urgently needed repairs and refurbishment of the bellows and the Great Swell Organ. With help from Chorley Borough Council, the Pilling Trust and the On Organ Fund we have sufficient resources to cover the £30,000 cost of re-furbishing the bellows and work will start shortly, we now have to find a further £10,000 to cover the repairs to the Swell Organ and are waiting for a decision on our application for a grant from the Pilgrim’s Trust. These projects will exhaust our available resources so we will need to raise more money from generous donors before we can carry out our next project – repairs to the window in the Tower Belfry and the next phase of the organ project.

Full details of our various projects and plans can be found by accessing the PROJECTS sections from our Home Page

FOSL has demonstrated that with your support it can deliver substantial projects to secure the future of our Church and support its expanding activities. We have been fortunate in obtaining grants from a number of organisations but these routinely require matching funds from our public appeals.

Please help by making a donation using the Just Giving facility on this page there are lots more challenges ahead and we need all the help we can get.
