Story
Over the last 10 years, Shared Interest Foundation has improved the livelihoods of over 10,000 people across Africa by helping fair trade businesses to grow. Our work has been shortlisted in the Charity Awards 2014.
This year, Shared Interest staff will be taking part in a Triathlon - the Great North Swim, Great North Run, and a Cycle to raise much needed funds. Head of Foundation, Chris Pay kicked things off by swimming a mile in the COLD waters of lake Windermere on 14th June. Credit and services manager Andrew Ridley is up next with the Great North Run in September. Find out why here....
From 2008 to 2011, we ran a Big Lottery Funded project which supported 50 handcraft producing businesses in Rwanda, helping the majority of them to double their incomes and creating over 100 new jobs. This was vital support, working with many women who were profoundly affected by the Rwandan Genocide, 20 years ago in 1994. (You can see a video about that project in the gallery, below)
Now that the project has ended, we don't want to stop our support. This year especially, we want to help more people in Rwanda to work their way out of poverty. We're also providing help in Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast. Knowing what we could achieve with your support, our staff are going the extra mile. Please show your support for us and our work, by sponsoring whatever you can. Thanks!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Your donation will go directly to the charity.
In addition to the Triathlon, we'll be carrying out other fundraising activities during the year, and we'll add the amounts raised to the total here as 'offline donations' as we go along.
