The first battle I was in was when I was born 2 months premature and had to fight for my life. 

I'm currently taking on everything the Arctic has to throw at trekking to the North Pole to support Borne and their life-saving research into the causes of preterm birth so that we can stop babies from arriving too early. You can follow our progress here:

Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant mortality in children under 5 around the world today.  15 million babies are born too soon each year.  I million die.

Those that survive can face lifelong disability, from cerebral palsy, autism, asthma, deafness, blindness to developmental delays and learning difficulties.

The annual cost of preterm birth to the UK's NHS is estimated at £3 billion.   Prolonging pregnancies that are delivered preterm by just one week would save the NHS £260 million per annum.

Yet research into prematurity is massively underfunded.  

I want to do my bit to change that, and to help Borne expand its pioneering research.  That is why I said yes to this Arctic challenge!
