Parachute for Prospect · 5 March 2017

Prospect Hospice provides end-of-life care to people and offers support to their loved ones. Our specialist teams provide care that is tailored to the needs of each person. All our care is provided free of charge and it costs £9.1million to run our services. Your support is vital to our care.

Story

Ever wondered what jumping out of a plane feels like? Well, 4 members of the Nationwide Financial Planning, Protection & Investment team will find out by taking part in a tandem sky dive on Sunday 5th March on behalf of Prospect Hospice, our 2016/17 charity of the year!

Prospect Hospice is the only adult hospice in the Swindon, Marlborough and North-East Wiltshire area. They support a population of 300,000 people on the basis of need and no other factor. in 2014-15 they supported more than 6,300 people and at any given time they are supporting more than 500 patients in the community.

Below are some examples of how the money we raise may be spent.

  • £5 pays for the fuel to allow a nurse to visit at home.
  • £25.19 pays for an hour of Prospect@Home care
  • £81.87 pays for a day visit to the day hospice
  • £213.38 pays for a weekday of nursing care in the In-Patient Unit
  • £314.35 pays for 24 hours of care in the In-Patient Unit
  • £823.53 pays for the Day Hospice to run for a day
  • £1,400 pays for a recliner chair
  • £4,086.55 pays for one patients stay in the In-Patient unit (based on an average stay of 13 days).

We need to raise a minimum of £400 per person, of which £175 will go towards the costs of the jump. Of course, we hope that we can raise much more than this!
