Story
For a number of years, I have hiked the Yorkshire 3 peaks in the middle of winter, made up of 26 miles, 2000m elevation and 12 hours of walking. My reward is usually the stunning views, going on an adventure with friends and family, and the physical challenge. This year, I'd like to put that towards the benefit of others.
I am raising money in aid of the horrific aftermath of the bush fires that have devastated Australia. The effects have been utterly devastating - an estimated and unimaginable billion mammals, birds and insects have died, with countless species being put at risk of extinction. Watching these events unfold and even coming close to contemplating the impact on the animal population has just bewildering.
So, rather than feeling completely helpless as I read up more and more, I have decided to raise for WIRES NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service) who are working on the front lines of these devastated areas providing veterinary support and refuge for those surviving animals who are at the kindness and mercy of others, as they suffer unable to help themselves.
