Frances's page

In June 2012 my husband Martyn collapsed suddenly at home and was subsequently diagnosed with skin cancer. He died 4 months later. A lot of bad things happened during those 4 months but one of the good things (alongside the support of family and friends) was getting involved with the Hospice in the Weald at Pembury. They offered support and care to both of us and continue to support me. I know Martyn felt safe and cared for whilst he was there and in fact he died there in October 2012. I'm taking part in the walk along with my friend Claire Davies to try and support the hospice and it seems fitting to be doing this event as it takes place almost a year to the day since Martyn's collapse.
The picture on this page is cut out of paper and was commissioned by Martyn whilst he was in hospital. It contains many references to places and things of significance to both of us. In the photo, Martyn is wearing a t-shirt displaying the latitude & longitude coordinates of his favourite place, Ashton Gate, home of Bristol City (but you all knew that!)
