After much indecision, I am actually going to turn up at the starting line of the London Landmark half marathon this Sunday. It will be exactly 15 years and 6 months since Archie died during delivery and was stillborn at term. I really can't not turn up. 

I was doing well in training and then injured my back in January. I had got comfortably up to 5 km but not much more...don't even think about the difference between 5k and a half marathon. So, I am in no way shape or form ready for this challenge but I'll give it a go, even if I have to walk much of it and crawl across the finishing line. I'll trust that my home town will look after me. 

While I haven't gained the fitness I hoped for, or lost the weight, I have re-connected with running and, assuming I survive this adventure, I'll find another challenge to prepare for properly.

So, do wish me luck and, if you've got a bit of spare change, I'm sure Tommy's, who fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth can make good use of it. I know how incredibly lucky I am to have my two boys in my life (Inigo was premature and in SCBU) but not a day passes without me thinking of Archie, who he might have grown into, and how his loss changed me and my life for ever.
