Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

I'm currently training to take part inThe Great North Run (13 miles) which takes place on the 7th September 2014. I'm hoping to raise a minimum of £300 for the incredible UK charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a world leader in training dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds and danger signals such as the alarm clock, doorbell, smoke alarm etc - providing a life changing level of independence, confidence and companionship.

The charity does not receive any government funding, and so relies entirely on the support of individuals, groups, companies and other organizations to raise vital funds.

While I was at the AT7 convention in February I saw the amazing and inspring work that this charity does and wanted to support them in any way I could. When I was told about the Great North Run I believed it was an amazing opportunity to raise as much money as I can for this incredible charity. It will also be a huge challenge for myself personally as I haven't done much running before so it's going to take a lot of effort and training :)
