Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

Team Marsden are raising funds by taking on the picturesque Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 to make a difference to cancer patients everywhere.

Story

On the 13th of October, exactly 1 year and 1 month on from losing Mum, I will be taking on the biggest challenge of my life so far! I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon alongside a fantastic group of family and friends to raise awareness and vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in memory of my wonderful Mum - Diane.

At the age of just 54, my Mum received her life altering diagnosis of Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer, with a prognosis of less than 6 months to live. From the time of Mum’s diagnosis in December 2020, The Royal Marsden supported our family in ensuring my Mum got the right palliative treatment, enabling her to live her life to the fullest and experience so many special memories together that we otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to make. My Mum was so strong and determined, outliving her prognosis more than five times over. Sadly, in the early hours of the morning on the 13th September 2023, the day she was due to start a promising clinical trial in Oxford, my beautiful Mum passed away unexpectedly with my Dad by her side.

Please join us in supporting the Marsden in helping other families going through the toughest times of their lives. No matter how big or small, every donation goes a long way towards the Marsden funding life saving research.

We all love and miss you so much Mum. This one’s for you and I hope we’re making you proud xxx
