Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been raising money for Housing Justice, in particular their projects working with the homeless in Birmingham, by asking for sponsorship of this cycle trip. The trip was split into three stages - the third and final part was completed on April 16th 2015.
In July 2014 I managed to get all the way from home in Olton, Solihull (near Birmingham) to Reims in the wonderful champagne country of Northern France, cycling through Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, central London and Kent, then down the coast from Calais and along the Somme valley on the way.
In October 2014, I set off again from Reims to cycle across Burgundy in France, through the beautiful Jura mountains then along the Rhône valley in Switzerland and over the Alps into Northern Italy past Lake Maggiore, finishing at Somma Lombardo near Milan.
Starting on Easter Monday in 2015 I completed the trip by cycling from Somma Lombardo down through Italy via Piacenza then across the Apennines into Tuscany through Lucca and finally on to Rome.
A record of the trip can be found here htr.meximas.com
We're lucky that, throughout this long trip, my team and I were able to find comfortable places to stay and good friends to stay with. We're very conscious that there are many people living not far from our home who aren't so blest and who need our help and support. Housing Justice in Birmingham runs a series of night shelters throughout the depths of winter to help these people and is now developing a programme of continued mentoring to support them. Housing Justice also campaigns on behalf of the homeless and badly housed, giving them a voice and fighting for improved conditions and provision. Much more information about their important work can be found on their website at housingjustice.org.uk.
