Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

Women are still getting breast cancer and dying from it. That’s why Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer have joined forces to become the UK’s largest dedicated breast cancer research charity. And with your help, together we can put an end to breast cancer, once and for all.

Story

Up until Sunday 22nd April, you will hear me talk and complain a lot about running, but when you get bored of hearing me moan about tiredness, aching joints, and not wanting to do it anymore, just remind me what I am running the marathon in aid of and I will shut up (for a little bit anyway!). Not once did I hear my extremely brave and amazing Mum moan about feeling sick, aching joints, tiredness or not wanting to go on when she went through all the gruelling treatment for breast cancer, she just put on a brave face and got on with it. So I tell myself that running is nothing in comparison to what my Mum and many other breast cancer sufferers go through, so I am going to try and just put on a brave face and get on with it!

Have I pulled on the heart strings enough yet to get you to donate lots of money?...no?...ok I’ll carry on...

Due to research into diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, many women have survived breast cancer and I can’t thank charities, like Breast Cancer Campaign, enough for the research into treatment that gave my Mum her life. However, this isn’t enough and a quarter of people diagnosed with breast cancer still die, so I want to do my bit to raise money and help continue this research and find a cure.

 ...how about now?...still not sure?...

Ultimately, I’m running an extremely long way, and I know I said I would try not to complain but this is a major challenge for me! Just over two years ago I could hardly run a mile and I always said I don’t know how people run marathons and I would never, ever do one, but in a moment of madness I signed myself up and so would really, really, REALLY appreciate your support to keep me motivated. I’ve heard people say that training for a marathon isn’t too bad, it’s the fundraising that is the difficult part, so please make this bit easy for me so that I can concentrate on the training!

Thank you for visiting my page and, in advance, for donating to Breast Cancer Campaign and supporting me, it is hugely appreciated.
