Each year Friends of the Cancer Centre funds life saving and life changing projects which make a real and positive difference to thousands of cancer patients and their families. The charity relies on donations from the public to be able to support these patients locally and across Northern Ireland.

Story

Our previous Northern Secretary (1991-2011), Frank Bunting passed away in August 2011 from a terminal illness.

Following his funeral a number of his friends and colleagues met to consider how best to commemorate his life.  One of the activities decided upon was to engage in a maracycle from Frank’s birthplace in Belfast to the annual INTO Congress in Killarney a distance of approximately 300 miles, at Easter this year.

This event will be a major fundraising effort to help support the superb work being carried out at the City Hospital in Belfast in the area of cancer research and support for cancer patients.  Frank, along with numerous others, benefitted greatly from the care afforded to him at the City Hospital.

Please donate to this worthy cause. In addition should anyone wish to take part and cycle a leg of the journey we would be happy to facilitate this. Please contact infoni@into.ie or desmondmcdonagh@hotmail.com or bmagill6@hotmail.com as soon as possible.

Your sponsorship would mean a lot not only to Frank’s friends and colleagues but more importantly it would make a real difference to those people who suffer from cancer.

Thank you,

Gerry Murphy
