Story
I'm taking on the Barcelona Iron Man, in memory of my father who afforded me the self-belief and opportunity denied to many vulnerable children in the world. I’m fundraising for UNICEF because every child deserves a childhood.
The Iron Man consists of a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle followed by a marathon. In order to be designated an Ironman, the course must be completed in under 15hrs and 40 mins.
UNICEF work in 190 countries providing 80% of the world's life-saving food, fund sanitation programs and provide education to some of the most vulnerable children in the world.
Specifically UNICEF has come to the aid of 247,000 Syrian children, vaccinated 23 million children in one year alone, reach 2 million children across the UK through their work with hospitals, schools and communities each year and responded to 344 global humanitarian emergencies in 2016.
Importantly over the last five years, for every pound spent by Unicef UK, 70p went towards work for children around the world, 29p was spent on raising another pound and 1p was spent on governance of the charity.
JustGiving sends your donation straight to Unicef UK and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
