Story

As the founder of Barbara's Friends I am committed to raising $50,000 by shaving my head. I am 92 years old and have never stopped trying to help these kids. I made a promise to my daughter, Barbara, as she was dying from cancer in 1995 to help children so they don’t suffer. From this promise Barbara’s Friends - The Pediatric Cancer Fund at Golisano Children’s Hospital was born. Today, 26 years later, more than 10,000 children with blood disorders and cancer have been cared for through Barbara’s Friends and the assistance it provides.

I have one request - please help me raise $50,000. I’ve dedicated my life to the mission of Barbara’s Friends and raising the critical funds needed so that no child is ever denied the care they need. I thank you for your continued and loyal support.

For the past 26 years, Barbara's Friends has helped over 10,000 local SWFL kids with cancer and blood disorders from infancy to age 30. This year alone more than 25 local children have been told they have cancer. Last year 70 children were diagnosed. The numbers are up. More families need your help. Please support our Shavee's by making a donation and share with our friends and family to make a difference in our community. Cancer doesn't care who, when or were. WE DO!
