Story
Bells have been part of village life in Clifton for many many years, ringing for Sunday Service, Weddings, Funerals, State Occasions, Anniversaries, Celebrations, Saints Days, Practices, Peals, Quarter Peals, and much more.
The last major work done on the bells was in 1953, just before the Coronation, and the bells are very much in need of a major re-furbishment. With modern engineering methods, the bells will be restored to a better condition than they have ever been, and not only will we be restoring our heritage for the present, but also for future generations to enjoy.
I am doing an 800 kilometre pilgrimage walk during April / May and would like to invite sponsorship to raise money for the bell restoration. Starting on the 27th April from St Jean Pied de Port in France, I will walk the Camino Frances and am due to finish in Santiago de Compostela in Spain on the 30th May. With five weeks of walking around 24km each day, solo with no backup, no pre-booked accommodation, and pretty basic Spanish, It would give me great encouragement to think that my blisters, sunburn, sore legs and bites were earning money for the bell project.
Please dig deep for the Bell Fund, help us restore the bells to a prime condition, and be part of preserving a wonderful heritage for future generations. Click here to follow progress on my web site
