100 mile Cycle to feed 100 families!

1 day 100 mile Cycle Fundraiser · 15 June 2020
This current global pandemic has been tough for the whole world, lots of people have had their daily lives, employment, and well being affected. Fortunately we live in a country that has a welfare state.
Countries such as Nepal do not have any government assistance or financial support, and so ordinary families have suffered greatly because of the loss of employment and businesses closing down due to lockdown. This has left many families in a dire situation where they have not been able to provide food for their children and themselves.
As many of you know that I work for Travelteer, a charity that supports local communities in Sri Lanka and Nepal. Our partner charity in Nepal called SAHAS has requested financial support to help the worst affected families in extremely remote villages. Therefore I and 3 friends, Brad Kislingbury, Joe Humphries, Jake McMillan have decided to complete 100 mile cycle in one day to feed a 100 families! We are planning to complete this cycle in mid July.
The official government relief recommendations is that is takes 214,000 Nepalese Rupees, to feed 100 families for 1 month.
30kg rice =Rs.1400
3kg Dal = Rs360
3 packs Salt = Rs60
2 lts oil = Rs320
Total Rs2140 x 100 = Rs214,000 equivalent to £1,384.85 (Our target)
This is why I am asking you to reflect on your own life and think how you may be able to support families in real need. It costs just £13.85 to feed a family for 1 month, that’s the price of 4 beers!
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. If the target is not met, we will be completing more challenges to hit our goal!
