Story
At the beginning of this year, my grandson, Rex, became seriously unwell. After countless tests and being transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Evelina, he was diagnosed with HLH (Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis).
HLH is a rare, life-threatening condition where the immune system becomes dangerously overactive, attacking the body’s own tissues and vital organs.
Watching someone so small fight such a huge battle was one of the hardest things our family has ever been through. Those weeks were filled with fear and uncertainty, but throughout it all, the team at Evelina gave Rex the most incredible care. Their skill, compassion and dedication not only helped save his life, but also supported our whole family.
Today, seeing Rex healthy, happy and thriving is something we will never take for granted. We will be forever grateful to everyone at Evelina.
To say thank you, I’m taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2027 alongside my son, Jake, and my daughter, Abbie. Together we’re raising money for Evelina so they can continue providing the outstanding care that gave our family hope when we needed it most.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, you’ll be helping Evelina continue their incredible work for children and families facing the toughest battles.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support
