Story
We’re asking for donations to The Myton Hospices in memory of my lovely dad, Fraser.
Care and support from district, palliative and hospice nurses, as well as GPs, allow people to be comfortable and retain some much needed dignity when they choose to die at home. Dad always insisted he wanted to be in his own home when he went, and the lovely nurses from Myton were a key part of a huge cast of professionals that made his wish a reality.
The Myton nurses visited Dad at least 10 times in the week we cared for him at home in Cubbington, and each home visit costs the charity £106. So Dad received well over £1000 worth of care at a time when he desperately needed it, and that doesn’t touch the sides when you take into account all the treatment and expertise he received on the extraordinary NHS. We would love to at least cover Myton’s cost, so please give anything you can to help us repay them just a little bit.
Nothing will ever come close to expressing our gratitude to these wonderful women, but it would be great to leave them better off than they were before they met and cared for Dad, just like everyone who met him went away with a smile on their face, or a laugh in their hearts at one of his many stories.
Thank you all for your love through such a painful time - we couldn’t have got through this as a young family without all your help and support. We look forward to next year, when we can all meet in better circumstances to celebrate Dad’s life and reminisce about the lovely old bugger.
Love you all,
Doug, Laura and Harry x
