We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Ian Francis 1986 - 2022
On 9th June 2022, our beloved friend, Ian, tragically decided to take his own life.
Ian and his long-term partner, Christie, were engaged to be married, they have two beautiful children, Ella (3 years) and Max (1 year), and they had just moved into a new home. Ian was a devoted father, a friend, a son, and the nucleus of their family.

For those of you who knew Ian, you were the lucky ones. He was fun and he was kind. He would light up a room with his humour and would always make you laugh; his cheery personality was infectious.

The experience of losing Ian has highlighted how much more awareness is needed for men’s mental health. This is why this hodgepodge of friends are donning their running gear, flailing around and hoping to make it over the finish line.

If you have the means to support this invaluable charity please do so. Below is what CALM is all about and how it supports individuals who are suffering with mental health issues and those who have lost a love one.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what. £8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
