Story

Jeanette Mary Thompson Cornelsen, age 83 (less 5 days) passed away January 8, 2022.  Reuniting her with the love of her life, her husband Fred Cornelsen. Marrying Fred in 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she was born. They moved with their children to "Mary Land"  in March of 1965. They settled in Kettering, Maryland raising their children. Jeanette was an engaging mom leading the neighborhood children in creative thinking, painting and plays. Well known for finding joy in nature and entertainment, and hosting the best parties. She was an avid sailor, bowler and golfer. Teaching family and friends along the way.

Manfred “Fred” Cornelsen, age 85, passed away on January 1, 2021. He was born in Berlin, Germany and later moved to Canada. In 1965, Fred decided to find warmer weather and he moved his family to the DC area where he worked for Genco Masonry as the Vice President of Construction.

Fred was passionate about his work and championed for others in the masonry profession. He enthusiastically shared his knowledge, whether it was giving guidance on a complicated project or instructing others on how to prepare pork loin on the grill, he loved to teach.
After retirement, Fred enjoyed spending time on the golf course with Jeanette and friends, traveling, sailing, and finding the best food in town!

Jeanette and Manfred are survived by their daughter Rhonda Cornelsen, son Robert Cornelsen, grand-children Suzanne Pecoraro and Kristen Cornelsen, and sisters Edith Cornelsen Grund, and Helen Thompson Crews

As a family we are passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. We are impressed with the high caliber of staff and facilities of the Heart and Vascular program at Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center and think highly of their efforts to heal in a caring way.

Our family would be honored to have you support the Heart and Vascular program at Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center in Jeanette's and Fred's memory.
