Story
The last couple of years have been challenging for everyone in various ways. For many, the disruptions and uncertainty have taken a toll on mental wellbeing. It's vital that people are supported through challenging times and Mind work hard to do this. They provide advice and support to anyone experiencing mental ill-health. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They are fighting so that everyone experiencing a mental health issue gets both support and respect.
When my mental wellbeing was at a low-point last winter, I took up running to help me get through it. It proved to be a lifeline through the tough winter months, allowing me to fight and win small personal battles with myself on a regular basis and empowering me to keep going.
Running helps my mental health and I decided to run this half marathon to challenge myself, to have a goal to work towards, and at the same time to raise money for Mind to help support their valuable work - being there for those going through a challenging time.
The 10th of October is World Mental Health Day, an
international day for global mental health education, awareness and
advocacy against social stigma. As the Royal Parks Half Marathon is on the 10th of October, there couldn't be a better opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise to support Mind's work.
If you can, please consider donating to support this fundraiser and keep me running!
