In June 2017 we lost our grandad (Fred Bales) to his brave battle against Cancer. He was not only a remarkable Grandad to us but also a great mentor and friend. Grandad Fred was a compassionate man with a good heart and extraordinary mind.

When he was terminally ill the Marie Curie Team in Tamworth Staffordshire stepped in to help us as a family. We will never forget your kindness and care. It wasn't just helping hands, you put a smile on his face and stood by him until the end. 

We want to raise money for the Marie Curie Charity to show our respect to these carers and the charity. 

Anyone who knew grandad Fred knows he was a very PROUD Yorkshire man and Whitby is a place in Yorkshire he loved to visit. The opportunity to do this Trek seemed a perfect way to honor his Spirit. We'll be sure to have a Yorkshire Tea before and a Guinness after, because that's the way he'd do it! We'd love for you all to join us in this tipple on the day.
