Engadin Ski Marathon · 11 March 2012

The HEAL PROJECT (HIV Empowered and Living) was set up in 1999 by Dr Helen Ayles to help one of her patients Jeannie Mulenga who was sick and had been made destitute through Aids. We now support a school and sewing/carpentry workshops to help those made homeless or orphaned because of Aids.

Story

Last year I was lucky enough to spend time at The Heal Project in Zambia. This home is run by Jeannie who looks after 30 children who are HIV+ve and often have been orphaned or have been victims of domestic abuse. The children are looked after in a recently built home where they try to be self sufficient, growing their own vegetables and raising chickens. It is hoped that up to 50 children could be looked after in the future. The project also funds a school for children in a nearby village.

On Sunday 11th March 2012, I will be taking part in the Engadin Skimarathon. The race is 42km through the Engadin Valley in Switzerland. I am going to spend a few days learning to crosscountry ski before doing the marathon with 13,000 other competitors!

Marathon completed! I managed a time of 3 hours and 50 mins.

Thank you so much to you all for your generosity.
